Perforce has launched Delphix Synthetic Data, an AI-native tool built to give developers, testers and AI agents realistic, scenario-specific test data when they need it. It uses AI-assisted discovery and configuration to identify data structures and relationships across sources, while supporting referential integrity and governed data delivery. Put simply, Perforce is aiming to give teams less time hunting for usable test data and more time actually testing software.
Because of the clear advantages available with the new synthetic data solution, IT Automation Week has named Delphix Synthetic Data a Best in Class product as it addresses the manual setup and fragmented tooling associated with comparable synthetic-data solutions. The recognition also reflects the product’s ability to automate discovery and configuration while helping teams create usable test data for complex enterprise environments. Furthermore, the growing importance of advanced synthetic data needed for AI-assisted and agentic development was also a key factor.
AI agents can accelerate coding and testing, but they still require safe, relevant data for new features and edge cases that may not exist in production. That is where Perforce is drawing a line between Delphix Synthetic Data and older synthetic-data tools. Legacy products can require teams to create rules field by field, manually configure relationships and use separate tools for data privacy, masking or delivery. That may be manageable for a single application, but it can become a headache when testing crosses multiple enterprise systems. Perforce’s platform combines synthetic-data generation, masking, delivery and governance in one offering, which should make life easier for teams that do not want every test-data project to become its own mini integration project.
The company’s 2026 survey of 518 enterprise technology leaders highlights the issue it is trying to solve. Among respondents who had evaluated synthetic-data solutions, 34% said synthetic data provided referential integrity and 36% said it provided data realism. The survey is Perforce-sponsored research, not an independent comparison of vendors, but it points to a familiar enterprise challenge: generated data is only useful if it looks right and holds together across connected systems.
“Your masked production data only tells you what already happened,” said Ilker Taskaya, field CTO for Perforce Delphix. “Testing needs the cases that aren’t in production yet — and it needs them to hold together across every database and file format in the environment. Delphix Synthetic Data generates data in the shape teams specify, with referential integrity intact, so agentic development isn’t waiting on test data.”
One good use case is testing a new customer workflow across CRM, billing and document-management systems. A team could create data for a situation that has never happened in production, while keeping the record relationships needed to test the whole workflow. That is useful when real customer data is unavailable, incomplete or off-limits.
Another use case is AI-assisted development of a new feature. Teams may need unusual edge cases that production data does not include, while privacy and compliance rules prevent them from copying sensitive records into a test environment. Perforce says Delphix Synthetic Data can deliver customized data to developers, testers and agents through its interface, APIs and MCP-enabled workflows.
