Percona and Coroot have introduced Coroot Percona Edition, an observability offering intended to help database teams trace production incidents beyond the database layer and identify likely root causes with less manual signal correlation.

The partnership combines Coroot’s full-stack telemetry and analysis capabilities with Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), which provides database-specific visibility into areas such as query activity, replication and database health. Percona said the combined offering will be available to its customers.

The change targets a familiar problem in cloud-native operations. An application slowdown or outage may be visible in a database, but the initiating condition may sit in an application service, network path or infrastructure component. Teams can lose time moving among metrics, logs, traces and database tools to establish which dependency changed first. Coroot Percona Edition is designed to correlate signals across those layers and provide a path from an incident to supporting evidence.

According to the announcement, the platform automatically collects and correlates telemetry from applications, networks, infrastructure and databases. It then uses AI-powered root-cause analysis to identify likely causes of an incident. For findings that involve a database, the companies said the software can direct teams to a Percona Support case, linking detection with the support process.

For operations teams, that workflow matters more than a new dashboard alone. Distributed applications are dynamic: services scale, nodes move, configurations change and database performance can be affected by dependencies outside the engine. Coroot Percona Edition is designed for Kubernetes and other cloud-native environments, where the companies say it maintains visibility as infrastructure changes. The release does not state which telemetry sources, database versions or Kubernetes distributions are supported, so organizations will need to confirm compatibility with their own stacks.

The offering also supports self-hosted and fully air-gapped deployments, Percona said. That option could be relevant to organizations that need to keep observability data inside infrastructure they control. The announcement did not provide pricing, performance measurements or comparative results for the root-cause analysis features.

The companies plan deeper integrations with Percona Support, PMM, Percona Operators, OpenEverest and Percona’s database knowledge base. Those integrations could reduce context switching for teams that already use Percona tooling, though the release does not give a delivery timetable for each item.

The operational benefit is a more connected incident-investigation workflow: a database administrator or site reliability engineer can begin with an observed issue and examine related application, network and infrastructure signals without separately assembling every relationship. That can reduce manual investigation work when the underlying cause is outside the database, but it does not remove the need to validate the evidence, assess changes and apply an approved fix.

Percona, which has provided open-source database software and support for two decades, is an established enterprise database-technology brand. Coroot is the specialist observability partner in the release; its platform works across Kubernetes, virtual machines and bare-metal environments, according to the companies. The announcement represents a product integration rather than a claim that incident resolution has been fully automated.

The companies did not announce a separate general-availability date or provide commercial terms in the release.
