GeoComputing Group is expanding its high-performance private cloud operations in Southeast Asia following a new RiVA deployment in Malaysia and the opening of a support center in Kuala Lumpur.
The company said its RiVA platform and private cloud services have been deployed at a large exploration and production company in Malaysia, extending GeoComputing’s presence in the Asia Pacific energy market.
The Kuala Lumpur facility becomes GeoComputing’s fourth global support center, joining locations in Houston, Aberdeen and Perth.
Private Cloud for Petro-Technical Computing
RiVA is designed specifically for computationally demanding exploration and production workloads.
GeoComputing said the platform addresses challenges including large data volumes, complicated computing environments, distributed technical teams, application performance and deployment costs.
Its high-throughput architecture is intended to accelerate geoscience processing, with the company saying certain workloads that previously required days can be completed in hours.
RiVA also includes integrated disaster recovery capabilities designed to support business continuity and data resilience.
Single and Multi-Tenant Deployment Options
GeoComputing offers RiVA through multiple private cloud configurations.
The single-tenant option dedicates hardware and software resources to one customer. GeoComputing manages the environment, with connectivity available through the internet or private data links.
The architecture is designed to give organizations remote access to high-performance resources while allowing them to address requirements such as data sovereignty.
GeoComputing also offers a multi-tenant private cloud configuration aimed at smaller exploration and production operators.
That model provides partitioned storage along with dedicated servers and workstations while allowing customers to benefit from shared infrastructure and specialized technical resources.
Kuala Lumpur Extends Global Support
The new support center expands GeoComputing’s follow-the-sun service model into another major Asia Pacific market.
The company provides specialists covering infrastructure, data, geoscience applications and technical workflows, with support available around the clock.
GeoComputing CEO John Creevan said expanding in Malaysia would help the company provide local customers with access to private cloud infrastructure designed specifically for E&P operations.
The expansion comes as energy companies continue modernizing technical infrastructure while balancing performance, cost and data-control requirements.
GeoComputing is also scheduled to attend Gastech in Bangkok from September 14 through 17 and APGCE in Kuala Lumpur from November 16 through 17.
