NVIDIA is partnering with SB Energy to secure a massive new AI infrastructure campus in Pike County, Ohio, with OpenAI set to use the computing capacity.

NVIDIA will serve as the exclusive AI compute infrastructure provider for the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus.

The initial deployment will support 4.25 IT-GW of AI factory capacity, with NVIDIA holding an option covering another 3.75 IT-GW.

OpenAI Signs On as Customer

SB Energy will build, own and operate the data center under a 20-year lease to OpenAI.

The deployment will use NVIDIA’s DSX AI factory platform, including GPUs, CPUs and networking infrastructure.

Capacity is expected to begin coming online in phases in 2028.

NVIDIA Invests $1.5 Billion

NVIDIA will also invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy.

The broader development calls for at least 10 gigawatts of new energy generation, enough to support 8 IT-GW of AI factory capacity, along with at least $4.2 billion in regional grid infrastructure.

The project demonstrates how AI infrastructure development is expanding beyond servers and accelerators into power generation, grid capacity, land and purpose-built data center facilities.
